MICHAEL WOOD
Project Coordinator for RBC, CROSQ
Mr. Michael Wood is the Project Coordinator for the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) funded Caribbean Building Standard (CBS) Project which is being executed by the CARICOM Regional Organisation for Standards and Quality (CROSQ). Mr. Wood is a Quantity Surveyor by profession, with approximately thirty years experience in diverse areas of the building and construction industry. Three of those three years were spent with the Barbados National Standards Institution(BNSI) dealing with matters pertaining to Building and Engineering Components particularly relating to the 1993 Barbados National Building Code (BNBC).
After leaving the BNSI, he formed Middlewood Consultants Limited, providing Estimating, Tendering and Post Contract Quantity Surveying Services to sub-contractors and small to medium size main contractors. In the last ten years, his services centred on provided Project Management/ Coordination Services on capital works construction projects. The last project, prior to taking up the present position as Coordinator for the CBS Project, was that of Project Coordinator for a two-year re-development of a four-star hotel in the south coast of Barbados .
His Technical Qualifications include a Higher National Diploma in Building (HND) gained from Sheffield City Polytechnic, Sheffield, UK 1984;
A Bachelor of Science Degree (BSc) in Quantity Surveying; obtained at from Portsmouth University, Portsmouth, UK in 1992
And, since then he has completed a number on continuing development courses including the three Post Graduate Courses in the Masters of Law (LLM) programme at the University of the West Indies (UWI), Cave Hill; Barbados; W. I.
