With a shrinking world and growing size of projects the Caribbean Engineering Services provider faces increasing competition from a large group of multi-national companies attracted to the Caribbean by the projects. There is a potentially large base of engineers in the Caribbean that need to consolidate and integrate in the face of this competition.
In addition, development of special expertise in the particular requirements of the Caribbean together with improving standards of education and training methods will help to increase the presence and impact of the Caribbean Engineering services providers.
This presentation summarizes approximate surveys of consultants in the Caribbean and engineering consultants in Trinidad as a rough means of assessing the resource base.
It goes on to highlight some possibilities for growth and discusses possible weakness to be addressed in order to improve international competitiveness in engineering services.
